A Djembe is a hand drum. We made ours by combining two styrofoam cups and using paper mache to cover the cups. Then the students painted them white and used sharpies of multiple colors to add African shapes, lines and patterns to the outside. One of the insides is filled with miscellaneous items in order to make them rattle, at the same time the other end is still a drum.
