Kindergarten

Winter Red Birds

Celebrating winter in Wisconsin with my Kinders in Art class.  We really had a great time creating the birch trees and snow first, and then adding the red bird made out of simple shapes.  Very lovely!

Kindergarten

In Kindergarten we looked at art pieces from the artist Robert Indiana, who created the LOVE pieces that have become very iconic of POP art around the United States and internationally.  It was great to listen to the conversations the images of the LOVE sculpture inspired with my Kinder Artists.  That four simple letters could be so exciting to people, was curious to the 5 and 6 years olds in my classes.

1st Grade

These adorable penguins were made from construction paper with some painted snow in the background.  We watched clips of the Aurora Borealis "Northern Lights", to gain some ideas on our colors for the backgrounds as well.

2nd Grade

We studied Vincent VanGogh and his sunflower paintings.  2nd graders created these lovely close-ups by drawing, with a emphasis on the seeds as well.  The students really enjoyed creating the frames with gold paint.

3rd Grade

The third grade recently studied various works of Art by Vincent Vangogh.  Here is what one group of my 3rd graders did when inspired by 'Starry Night'
.

5th Grade

5th Grade Winter Snowflake Collages.  We painted our black paper any design using only tints and shades of blue.  Then we sponge painted with green and violet.  Secondly, we made various sized snowflakes and embellished with glitter.  The last step was some splatter painting with white tempera.
